Since the merger in spring 2005, Mühlebach has been part of the municipality of Ernen. Ernen is one of the 12 municipalities of Goms (Valais/Switzerland), has 530 inhabitants and is located on the left side of the Rhone Valley, nestled in a landscape of alpine mountains at 1200 m above sea level. The Goms Bridge, built and inaugurated in the summer of 2015, connects the two hiking areas of Mühlebach and Bellwald as well as the Rottenweg and the Gommer Höhenweg. Mühlebach is home to the oldest wooden village in Switzerland. St. George's Church, built between 1510 and 1518, is also worth a visit. In the municipality of Ernen, time seems to have stood still, and yet neither the inhabitant nor the holidaymaker needs to give up the conveniences of modern life, which have now become obvious. Cable TV and internet are just as obvious as the offer of basic necessities. The concerts in the music village are a special experience. Ernen is part of the Landscape Park, a regional nature park of national importance.
